I had watched & enjoyed that video of the three pastors talking too when it came out. I loved WHY Francis Chan did what he did and was really happy for him in that decision. . .just how I am about Joshua Harris doing so with his current decision.
I thought there was a slight mention about courtship in I Kissed Dating Goodbye, but I haven’t read it since 1999. It was cool to hear further in about the book in the background. I enjoyed this podcast and learning about what Joshua Harris plans on doing after his study period is done. Very great. Keep up the great work!
I read Stop Dating the Church which had helped me for a time. . . .but I moved past that church a couple years ago but I fought hard to stay there. I was on and off with that particular church for many years and stuck with it for eight years before leaving. It was a battle because of crazy things that were going on in there and several pastor changes….
I don’t know if it is a joke, but before my husband and I were dating, and because I gave him the excuse that I wasn’t going to just date him right when I met him because I read I Kissed Dating Goodbye, he would use it as a poke against me. For instance, at youth group when he was a senior in high school and I was a junior, there was this game that the youth pastor put together in order to see what kids’ ideas were about dating, my husband was picked to be a part of the game. He was asked, “What is the worst pick-up line you’ve ever had someone use on you?” He looked at me and answered, “I don’t date.” The host was so confused by his answer. . .but basically the pick-up line worked because he couldn’t stop thinking about me not wanting to date that it made me more interesting to him that he pursued me. Nine months after meeting, I became his girlfriend because I told him I was only going to date someone who would work towards marriage with me. . . .and he was ready for the challenge!
