Giving at Northview

During each Weekend Service, an “offering bag” will be passed around the pews – this is how Northview members and attendees support the work of the church. If you are visiting, please don’t feel obligated to give.

When you give to Northview by

  • cash in an offering envelope
  • by cheque
  • e-transfer
  • debit
  • or by Pre-Approved giving donation

you will receive your receipt in February the following year.

What is the Biblical Teaching on Tithing

Every Christian needs to understand how significant it is to be a steward of the resources God has entrusted them with. Paul writes a simple faith instruction to the early believers: “On every Lord’s day, each of you should put aside some amount of money in relation to what you have earned and save it for this offering.” (1 Corinthians 16:2 NLT).

In Old Testament times 10%, or a tithe, was required. Today, however, the New Testament calls for “proportionate giving” which is:

  • Regular giving
  • Giving it off the top of our income
  • Sacrificial giving
  • Cheerful giving

If in former times, a tithe was required, surely in this new age of the church, that would be a place to begin. We all want to grow in generosity. This is not “give to get”, rather “give” because in Christ we are privileged to participate in doing the very work of Christ. (Read 2 Corinthians 8 and 9.)
