I think one of the key concepts we need to bring to the homosexuality debate (and also to thie narcissistic culture) is the idea of humanity as the image of God. This point needs to be made often and loudly because the contrary message that humanity is not special but is merely the product of random chance is being pounded at us from every direction. Ironically, this has yielded both despair and narcissism. But what does it mean to be the image of God? Genesis 2 and Psalm 8 emphasize vice-regency under God, stewardship of the earth and procreation leading to human flourishing. As Andy and Jeff pointed out, these biblical features of humanness are not the trajectory which much of the western world — not to mention Japan and China — is on. They are, as was stated, on a collision course with death and extinction.
