The School of Education at TWU went to the Supreme Court of Canada in early 2000 for the same reason the Law School went to the SCC. We won our case. This shows that our culture has changed drastically in the last decade.
As far as the Nursing Department, there is so much research to support the value of faith and prayer on dealing with health issues so this type of sensorship may be less likely to happen to them in the near future, anyway.
When we (Education) started the process of getting our fifth year approved, the BC College of Teachers were talking about tolerating LGBTQ. Mid way through the process they said tolerance wasn’t good enough, we needed to celebrate LGBTQ.
It would be informative to you to read the two outcomes. You would have specific evidence of how things are changing in Chrisitan university education in Canadian. Did you know that 8 of the 9 justices knew they were shutting down our right to religious freedom but made the decision to do it anyway.
It would be interesting to have Bob Kuhn to come and dialogue with you in podcast. He was the lead lawyer who took us (School of Education) through to the Sureme Court of Canada, and would have been involved in this case. To have these cases in our back yard is important for us to know what is happening.
Just to give you some further understanding, at the end of the second level of court before going to the SupremeCourtof Canada, Thomas Berger threw on the judges’ table a recommendation that all faith based institutions be denied tax-free status.
