What I do: I retired in 2010 from going into an office every day.  Now I am busier than ever volunteering in the community and at Northview.  Do we ever really retire?
Wisdom or bit of advice: I once saw a road sign that said, “This is God’s country, so don’t drive through it like Hell”.  It reminds me of life. Life is not a sprint, racing to get to the destination. It is a marathon – the journey is long with many surprises along the way. “I press on toward the goal to win the prize of God’s heavenly calling in Christ Jesus.” In other words, no matter what happens on the course – keep your eyes fixed on Jesus and never lose hope, never give up.
Spouse: Janice, whom I love dearly, more and more each day. I am so blessed.

Children: Many – even more who have adopted me.

Education: Graduate Technologist (computer science).

Hope and Vision for Northview: That Northview will be a church without borders, a family church, a church where people come for refuge from the world and will be built up through fellowship with one another and through the worship of our God.

How I got involved with Northview: Because someone cared enough about me to pray that I would come to know the Lord. I came, I did. What else can I say?

A few of my favorite things: Watching the clouds on a bright sunny day; listening to the wind blowing through trees; cooking for the appreciation of others; fixing things; and although it is really rare, experiencing unconditional love.

Favourite preacher: The one who challenges my mind and paradigms and speaks the truth from Scripture.

Favourite author: Philip Yancey: What’s So Amazing About Grace? – The Jesus I Never Knew. Wayne Grudem – Systematic Theology.
Arthur C. Clark: Rendezvous with Rama (they need to make the movie).

Favourite kind of music: Classical music written in the European tradition during a period lasting approximately from 1750 to 1830.

I like this quote: “Be Excellent to one another!” – Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure

Favourite Understatement: “He also made the stars…” – Gen 1:16

Random thoughts: This must sound so trite – but it is such a privilege to know and to serve the Creator of the Universe.

Hometown: Born in Winnipeg and at age four I was carried off by giant mosquitoes and dropped into British Columbia.
