What I do: I’m mostly retired now. My working career was as a food and drug analytical laboratory manager for Health Canada in Vancouver/Burnaby. I recently stopped doing part-time contract work for Standards Council of Canada in auditing laboratories to meet ISO quality standards. I am writing another book and I enjoy spending time with my wife and family. I serve in Prison Alpha & as an M2.
Wisdom/Advice: “Don’t jump to conclusions – get the evidence”. I served in Christian Service Brigade a long time ago and each year I taught the young boys Psalm 119:9 which basically says “How shall a young man [person] keep their way pure? – By obeying God’s Word”. Another excellent word of wisdom that I like is Proverbs 3:6: In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.
Spouse: Carrie and I have been married for 50 years. She has the gifts of discernment, mercy, service, exhortation and house cleaning.
Children: Our 3 married children and eight grandchildren all live in the lower mainland so we enjoy spending time with them almost every week.
Education: BSc in Pharmacy and a PhD in Pharmacology.
Hope & Vision for Northview: I pray that our Pastors can continue to preach the Word in truth and love. I love the advantages that a big church can offer in providing a wide variety of programs especially training and equipping courses plus support ministries while still encouraging seekers.
How I got involved at Northview: I worked with Dale Loewen in Burnaby and he extolled the blessings and service opportunities that Northview offered. We moved to Abbotsford in 2003 & almost immediately started attending Northview. We had experience serving in Alpha so we became involved there & in a Community Group.
A few of my favorite things: Desserts. Biking to Chilliwack for breakfast. Writing. Spending time with my family. Camping & travelling. Reading.
Favorite preachers: (Besides Jeff and our Northview Pastors). I like Tim Keller, Bill Hybels and Billy Graham.
Favorite authors: Chuck Colson, Phillip Yancey, Donald Miller, C.S. Lewis, Tim Keller.
Favorite music: I’m not at all musical but I have eclectic tastes including enjoying 50’s and 60’s music, country/western music, Southern Gospel music and classical music
